Nation Building at Home

Within the last few years, President Obama promised to do more "nation building at home".

This was his rationale for withdrawing troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

OK, the troops have already withdrawn from Iraq and we are slowly withdrawing from Afghanistan.

But yet, even with the sequestration, in which automatic budget cuts have occurred due to a lack of a deal between Congress and the President, we are STILL spending US taxpayer's money to do nation building OUTSIDE our borders!

Latest example?

The US government has given $250 million of our taxpayer's money to the government of Egypt, which may or may not be our ally, depending on the mood of the  Muslim Brotherhood leadership.

We still have military bases in Germany, Japan, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and other nations wealthy enough to fund their own military!

Time for them to start practicing some self-reliance!

Same goes for Israel too.  (and no, this isn't anti-Semitic either! Either Israel is a part of the US or it isnt. No?  Well then, they can start being more independent and be more self-reliant for their own nation building.)

As for South Korea and Taiwan  -- build your own nukes already!  North Korea did it even with a poor economy, so can you!

As for other foreign aid, private charities can still provide assistance to the needy overseas.

So, if President Obama is truly serious about "nation building at home", he should  tell the foreign leaders "YOU pay for your own defense, YOU pay for your own infrastructure, YOU stop expecting us to bail you out when you make poor decisions."

"After all, we got nation building to do at home!"
