The dilemma: mountain lion near a school

Recently, in Palo Alto, California, a mountain lion was in a tree near a school. It was close to the time the kids were about to leave the school. If nothing was done, the mountain lion could've attacked, and traumatizing others.

So the cops shot the mountain lion before it could attack. The politically correct fanatics went apeshit!

A few quotes from Thomas Sowell on this!

Yes, the mountain lion was sitting peacefully. That is what cats do before they pounce -- usually very swiftly.

Bet the animal rights fanatics dont want you to think about that.
========

Second-guessers always have easy alternatives. One protester against "the murdering of such a beautiful creature" said that it "easily could have been removed from the premises and relocated" .........The protester offered no helpful hints on how you "easily" remove a mountain lion from a tree -- and certainly did not volunteer to demonstrate how to do it in person the next time the police find a mountain lion up a tree in a residential neighborhood.

And what about using tranquilizers instead

What if the police had shot a tranquilizer gun at the adult mountain lion in the tree and missed? Would they have had a chance to get off a second shot at a swiftly moving target before he pounced on one of the hundreds of children that were soon to be leaving school near him?

but not everyone was pissed at the cops for this

Some Palo Alto parents of small children living near where the mountain lion was killed said that the police did the right thing. There are still some pockets of sanity, even in Palo Alto.

Lucky I live in Hawaii, where there's no mountain lions around.

American Idol

As you know by now, Fantasia won the American Idol.

That means all you race card addicts who blame racism for LaToya's ouster will have to shut up now.

But the race cards most likely will never stop even though African Americans have won 2 out of the 3 American Idol contests.

As for the show itself, I was considering entering until I found out how their system works. If you win, you will have to sign a contract in which the record company controls all your actions and controls all your recordings. Screw dat! I rather make my own records where I can say and do whatever!

Teenage Pregnancy

When will people get over the fact that teenagers will NEVER be asexual? People act as if a teenager having a baby is equivalent to an act of terror! Those people should get a grip.

Here is an example of that hysteria appearing as a letter to the Honolulu Advertiser.

Picture of pregnant teenager disconcerting

While I was reading Sunday's "I'm Pregnant" article, I was taken aback by a picture of one of the mothers-to-be — a 17-year-old teenager. What could possibly be gained by having a 17-year-old as one of the subjects?

In general, at age 17, a student should be thinking of furthering her education, earning an income and gaining more wisdom and maturity about dealing with the complexities of life.

As a society, we certainly don't encourage teens to get pregnant. The Advertiser should have looked at the message it is sending by having a picture of a pregnant teenager.

OK, let's dissect Fong's words

What could possibly be gained by having a 17-year-old as one of the subjects?

MY RESPONSE: Uh, maybe the media is telling like it is! How dare they not pretend that teenagers dont get pregnant!

In general, at age 17, a student should be thinking of furthering her education, earning an income and gaining more wisdom and maturity about dealing with the complexities of life.

MY RESPONSE: Here we go again, acting as if someone getting pregnant at 17 means that one will never go to college! Nonsense! At UH, I see many mothers there. So they started college later than the average person! So what? It's better than nothing! Just because one is not at college at 18, that doesn't mean one will never attend college before the age of 60. To each their own!

As a society, we certainly don't encourage teens to get pregnant. The Advertiser should have looked at the message it is sending by having a picture of a pregnant teenager.

MY RESPONSE: This is what I don't get about conservatives! On one hand, they whine and bitch about abortion! But on the other hand, if a teenage girl chooses NOT to have an abortion, the conservatives still demonize that teenage girl! And they even have to nerve to demand the media act as if teenagers don't have sex and get pregnant!
