Teri Schiavo died

After 13 days of starving and dehydration, Teri Schiavo has died.

Starving and dehydrating someone is too excessive.

If I was in a vegatative states, I'd rather be lethally injected (with poison that kills in minutes) rather than to be starved and dehydrated for 2 weeks.

Better to die fast than to die slow

In other Schivo related news, it's amazing to see Reverend Jesse Jackson and Florida Governor Jeb Bush be in agreement over something for once.

Elian and Schiavo

The Elian Gonzalez controversy and the Teri Schiavo controversy have plenty in common besides the fact they took place in Florida.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/diary/?id=110006480

Both involve a lot of hypocrisy from the Radical Left.

In both cases, those who were unhappy with the courts' decisions strained to assert the federal government's power to produce a different outcome. The difference is that in Mrs. Schiavo's case, Congress backed off after passing a bill that merely asked a federal court to hear the case from scratch, something that U.S. District Judge James Whittemore declined to do. By contrast, those who wanted the federal government to intervene in Elian Gonzalez's case went all the way, supporting a predawn armed federal raid on the morning before Easter to seize the 6-year-old boy despite a federal appeals court's refusal to order his surrender

That's Right - Then President Bill Clinton and then-Attorney General Janet Reno DEFIED A COURT ORDER in the Elian Gonzalez case!

Read that sentence 6 times.

Yet, the same Radical Leftist who complain about police brutality cheered on the police brutality that Janet Reno's goons used against Elian Gonzalez and his Miami relatives .

USA vs Mexico soccer

I didn't have time to work on this blog the last few days, which is why I'm late in commenting on last Sunday's soccer game between USA and Mexico.

The game took place in Mexico City's Azteca Stadium (Estadio Azteca) which holds up to 105,000. The American fans had guts to watch the game at that stadium

Mexico defeated USA 2-1. The Mexicans were too fast and aggressive.

Which team did I support? USA

This might shock some people just because I have some Mexican ancestry. However, I AM NOT A CITIZEN OF MEXICO, I'M A CITIZEN OF THE USA!

Does anybody ask a white American if he/she supports Germany over the USA? Or support Ireland over the USA? Or support England over the USA?

If you was watching the World Cup in 2002, you'd probably find some Americans of German ancestry cheering on USA against Germany. So dont be surprised if you find Chicanos supporting the USA over Mexico!

Teri Schiavo

I haven't been commenting on Teri Schiavo because I'm one of those people who need to know the facts before making public commentary.

Let's go over some facts

- Teri Schiavo had bulimia. All those years of binging and puking led to a heart attack which led to brain damage

- Schiavo needs a tube to feed her

- Her husband wants to take out the tube

- Her parents disagree

-Schiavo has no written will

- As of now, the courts side with Teri Schiavo's husband and the tube is out.

As of this moment, looking at CNN website, Schiavo hasn't been declared dead yet. This is a hard case. When you are in such pain or if you're in an eternal coma, would you want to continue living? A lot of people wont. Some people would rather take a lethal injection.

Schiavo wasn't able to have a written will to tell others what she would prefer. Because of that, the controversy is here.

It seems to me that giving a lethal injection is illegal, while taking out a feeding tube is legal. If I have a fatal incurable disease, I'd rather be lethally injected instead of being starved & dehydrated over days (which is what's happening to Schiavo right now)

However, if Schiavo's parents want to take care of her, maybe Schiavo's husband should just give the parents custody.

UH Tuition increase

The University of Hawaii is planning to increase tuition.

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2005/Mar/22/ln/ln01p.html

In the late 1990's, when tuition is increase, enrollment went down. Then revenue. So what happened next? More tuition increases, less enrollment and less revenue. The cycle continued until 2001.

After the 9/11 attack, many elite Hawaii families who once preferred mainland colleges started to prefer UH. This was partly due to fear of terrorist attacks in major US cities, partly out of keeping the family together in case of another attack.

However, the fear of terrorism has died down.

And now UH wants to increase tuition. I predict the cycle of the late 1990's will happen again.

Yes, I know, UH is cheaper than many elite mainland colleges. However, many of the local families that send their kids to UH tend to be either 1) middle class or 2) low income who rely on scholarships and financial aid.

Add to that, Hawaii's high cost of living.

Many students have to work part-time to make ends meet.Meanwhile, elitist morons like Dr Foltz (retired UH English prof) and Dr. Lieberman (UH psych prof) expect their students to read all their assigned books. Hey, even if the students are interested in the books, they aint got time to digest the info since 1) they got other classes to study for, 2) they got part time jobs to make ends meet.

UH doesn't have as many trust-fund rich kids like many elite mainland universities do.

Nor do I ever want to hear this crap that students should graduate from college in 4 years. With all the core requirements and daily time constraints, 4 years is too short a time to graduate from UH unless you prefer 2 hours of sleep. I graduated from UH in 5 1/2 years and if you got a problem with that, I got 2 words for you. (1st one starts with an F, 2nd one starts with a Y)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

If a friend isn't wearing green, pinch 'em.

Hawaiian News

1) I watched the Edgy Lee's documentary on the Native Hawaiians this past Tuesday. It was an interesting film about the Native Hawaiian culture, their history, their hardships, and the Hawaiian Renaissance (in the 1970s) when many Native Hawaiians rediscovered their ancestor's culture.

http://www.filmworkspacific.com/hawaiiansReflectingvideo.html

In earlier post, I mentioned about this one Chinese male who whined that it's not fair that bus passes and street names have Hawaiian words. I wish that Chinese guy saw that Native Hawaiian documentary, so he would understand what was really unfair.

2) Lilikala Kame'eleihiwa (UH Hawaiian Studies prof) complained that a white male won the 1st Grammy for Hawaiian music.

http://starbulletin.com/2005/03/17/features/index3.html

What else would Lilikala demand? Would she protest if a non-white won an award for country music, heavy metal or punk rock?

PS: Lilikala Kame'eleihiwa real name is Lily Dorton

Came back home

Earlier today, I went to the Lanakila Health Center for a TB test.

Next door to Lanakila Health Center is Lanakila Housing (officially known as Puahala Homes, though Nobody calls it Puahala Homes). It was where I lived in my childhood years. It was a while since I last been there.

I decided to take a tour.

Since it was a weekday in the day-time, hardly anyone was outside. It was empty and quiet.

Everything inside looked so much smaller than I remembered. The sidewalks, stairs, gardens, everything was more narrower than I remembered. To a kid, they looked so big.

It was an interesting tour. It was a day I went back home.

Ethnic Relations in Hawaii - Revisited

A while back, I wrote on this blog about the local media not doing enough to expose the ethnic tensions between Polynesians, Micronesians and Asian immigrants.

Well, the Honolulu Advertiser had a story about a program that is attempting being Polynesians and Micronesians together. This was partly in reaction to a fight in Mayor Wright's Housing (MWH) last year between Micronesians and Polynesians

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2005/Mar/09/ln/ln05p.html

Now ministers from the Micronesian and Polynesian community are trying to get the kids to learn about the culture.

In the end of the mentioned article, it mentions that a few Vietnamese kids are getting involved in the cultural exchanges.

I congratulate Honolulu Advertiser for sheddding some light.

Truth about 9/11 Victims Churchill Doesn't Want You to Think About

Andrew Walden has said something about the investors killed in the 9/11 attacks that hasn't been said but should be said. Meanwhile, while Al-Quaida lover Ward Churchill insulted them.

Here are Walden's tribute to the investors murdered on 9/11

http://www.kaleo.org/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/02/28/4222b56d5f9f8?in_archive=1

Ward Churchill is wrong. Filthy-rich American financiers are not "little Eichmanns," but revolutionaries. We are freeing the world from the poverty and depredation created by socialism, feudalism, tribalism and dictatorship. By building and financing sweatshops, genetically modified agriculture and free trade, rich American bankers, stock traders and CEOs are giving billions of people the opportunity to earn cash wages for the first time in their lives or the lives of their ancestors.

Al-Qaeda and the anti-globalization Churchill left our counter revolutionaries against this Second Industrial Revolution, which has drawn absolute poverty down from 40 percent of the world's people to 21 percent in 20 years, according to a recent U.N. report on world poverty. It is Churchill and his comrades whose anti-development campaigns exacerbate the high infant-mortality rates that come from underdevelopment. It is they whose acts "translate into the rotting corpses of infants."
