It was June 6, 1999 when I graduated from McKinley High School (should be renamed Honolulu High School)
Today is now 25 years later!
Since I don't want to spend hours repeating myself about my reflections on high school, I'll just encourage you to read these other posts from the past
Back in 2009, I wrote my 10 yr anniversary post https://pablowegesend.blogspot.com/2009/06/10-years-ago-today.html
Then in 2019, I wrote my 20 yr anniversary post https://pablowegesend.blogspot.com/2019/06/2-decades-since-graduating-high-school.html
And from 2015, I wrote this blog post reflecting on when I entered high school 2 decades earlier (1995) https://pablowegesend.blogspot.com/2015/09/myself-2-decades-ago.html
As for a 25 year reunion, there's a question mark.
I attended the 10-year reunion, I was the main organizer of the 15th-year reunion, and I assisted in organizing the 20th-year reunion.
But a lot has changed in the last 5 years, the biggest factor being the pandemic.
Since then, I've become less enthusiastic about large gatherings, and I still wear my surgical mask and face shield in public. Not sure what the reaction would be if others were as drunk as they were at the 20th reunion.
And talking about drunks, I made this classic video speech about the situation with Patsaya Mounthongdy at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se1i4xC1C54
The c/o 99 has a Facebook group and so far NOBODY asked about a 25th-year reunion.
I guess the enthusiasm is no longer there for a reunion among our cohort.
But if someone says they'll help organize it, I might just join in. Being that I was the one who took the initiative in the past, I just feel it's time for others to pick up the slack.
Or maybe we'll just wait for the 30th-year reunion.
